Energy Drinks - Are There An Safe & Healthy Ones?

Energy drinks provide a boost of energy. How safe that energy boost is might be a good question that anyone should consider. With any kind of edible or drinkable product caution is always good. There are so many products on the market some out right dangerous. Always read the labels and investigate the ingredients somewhat so that you are aware of any potential problems they may cause. Two main ingredients of energy drinks are ginseng and caffeine there are adverse effects associated with caffeine consumption in amounts greater than 400 mg include nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, increased urination, abnormal heart rhythms, and stomach upset. Beware of high amounts of sugar as it is known to actually cause dehydration in the body. Sugar actually slows down fluid absorption into the blood and energy system which increases dehydration. With high levels of sugar are present in the blood stream our body does not metabolize the water into the cells due to the fact that the water is busy trying to dilute the high concentration of sugar in the blood. Some energy drinks have been banned in other nations. Others have been required to post warnings on the label against its use by pregnant women and children. It is only escalating from here good and bad. The energy drink market was a $5.4 billion dollar market in 2007, and it is predicted that it will increase to over $10 billion by 2010. This means more energy drinks entering the market. Within US, there have been reports that linked energy drinks to nausea, abnormal heart rhythms and emergency room visits. The contents in energy drinks may cause seizures due to the "crash" that follows the energy boost that occurs after consuming. The caffeine dosage is not required to be on the product label for food in the US, unlike drugs, maybe this is a practice that should actually be required.

You have a better chance of not developing diabetes if you indulge in the bean. Research also found that drinking Coffee just reduce the risk of Parkinson"s disease. Everyone thinks of Caffeine as being the only benefit in Coffee, but there is a higher percentage of vitamins and minerals than there is Caffeine. Dietary fiber also found in your coffee which in turn could help in lowering your cholesterol. Coffee in all is not a bad drink, as long as we use caution in moderation, but is it not the same for everything ? We all know that Coffee is addictive, researches have shown that it can be like a drug and when we try and give it up we crave for it even more so. We have all used it to help study and cram for an upcoming exam or test, to enable us to burn the midnight oil. Coffee stimulates the brain and allows us to ignore the fact that we are tired and need to sleep. Coffee is not of course for everyone, pregnant women should not drink Coffee, and some people cannot tolerate the hand trembling or the high feeling that comes when too much is consumed. Research has shown that drinking Coffee can also prevent some cavities from forming due to antibacterial contents. So go ahead pour yourself a cup!!!
