Chefs must remember always wash their hands before handling food. When preparing for the dishes, make sure you wash the ingredients thoroughly. This will help to remove the chemicals ad dirt of the vegetables and fruits. The next tip to follow is to learn how to prevent unnecessary injury. As you know there are many utensils in the kitchen and some are dangerous if you do not handle them properly, such as knives. When you need to cut vegetables or food, make sure you use the cutting board. Do not try the shortcut with your hand. Another tip when cutting something is to cut in a direction away from your fingers. Pot is one of kitchenware that must be handled carefully. This is especially true when you have kids around the kitchen. They could accidentally knock off the hot pot and injured themselves. To avoid this, turn all the pot handles towards the back of the stove. When you need to move the hot pots or pans, the pot holder is preferred compared to wet cloth. This is because the wet cloth might produce the steam which could burn you. Another way to prevent injury from the hot steam is to make sure the hot pot lid opening is away from you. The tidiness of cook is also very important, not only for the appearance, but also prevents you from accident. If you have long hair, make sure you tie back before you start to work in the kitchen. Tide up the loose clothing as well. This is because it is easy to catch fire especially when you are near to the stove. What if you accidentally get burnt? Quickly hold the burn under running water as cold water helps to transfer the heat out. Do not apply butter or grease as they will keep the heat in. Lastly, if your kitchen catches fire due to oil or grease, try to get salt or baking soda and throw them at the bottom of the fire. Do not use water as it will not help.
